How often have we heard the phrase, “They’ll get their karma,” or felt a fleeting sense of satisfaction at another’s struggles, believing it to be justice for the pain they caused us? But if we pause to reflect – does witnessing another’s suffering truly heal us? Plain and simple, it doesn’t. Holding onto grudges, bearing ill will, or seeking vengeance does nothing to ease our own pain. We wouldn’t wish our hardships upon others, nor would we want anyone to endure the agony we’ve faced. Hate only breeds more hate, creating an endless cycle of harm for everyone involved.
We cannot erase past wrongs or undo painful actions, but we can choose to release them and free ourselves from the burden they bring. Instead of harboring hatred, we can wish those who have harmed us peace and progress on their own healing journeys. Living in a world filled with health, growth, kindness, and happiness is far more fulfilling than watching destruction and chaos continue to spread.
Offering well wishes to others does not excuse their behavior or invite them back into our lives. Rather, it allows us to gain valuable lessons, set higher standards, create healthy boundaries, and stand firmly in our truth moving forward.
